On the road... and other adventures

At the beginning of June I accompanied our postulants on a mission trip to Jamaica that coincided with a mission trip of students from Roger Bacon High School.

I’ve done lots of traveling this summer to be a part of retreats for families and youth. I attended the Third Continental Congress for Formators in Wappingers Falls, N.Y., that considered mostly ongoing formation with a side of vocation ministry.
Also, I've done five days of ongoing formation with the National Religious Vocation Conference in Chicago: How to interview inquirers and the ethics of the role of vocation director. I managed to take a week of vacation as well.

July 23 I was part of a Local 12 story by TV news anchor Rob Braun about using social media to attract religious vocations. You can see it here.

Now I'll have another opportunity to spend a week with RBHS students (intense youth interaction is my new focus these days). After that trip I'll accompany Fr. Mark Soehner to a meeting on youth and vocations in St. Louis with the Conference of Major Superiors of Men. After that I'll be in Washington, D.C., for a conference for friars who have been solemnly professed for less than 10 years.

And after that I will be returning to Jamaica to be a vacation substitute for a Jamaican priest so that our friars do not have to cancel their own parish Masses to do the necessary coverage for their Jamaican confrere. Returning from Jamaica I'll attend the welcome for postulants at the interprovincial postulancy in Silver Spring, M.D., and return to Cincinnati.

September will be for planning a fall full of school and college visits!
