Patron Saint of Vocations: a friar!

Did you know that the patron saint of vocations is St. Junípero Serra? Ole Junípero was a Friar Minor (aka Franciscan) who traveled to the "New World" back in the day! He now lives in the eternal kingdom of God and intercedes for all those who are discerning a vocational call to religious life or priesthood.

There is an old (broken) bell at a Franciscan retreat center in Las Cruces, N.M., that sits as a reminder of St. Junípero. I wish that it was as easy as ringing a bell to know and follow one’s vocation. But in reality it’s tricky business.

Because the process of discernment is tricky, let me, as a director of vocations for the Order of Friars Minor (of which our patron was a member), help you listen to, discern and follow God’s call for your life.
